Description

These garlic brown sugar green beans are a delicious side dish that balances sweet and savory flavors, perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb fresh green beans (ends trimmed)
  • ⅔ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup butter (melted)
  • ¼ cup soy sauce (or gluten-free tamari)
  • 2 tsp garlic (minced)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Line a 9×13-inch baking dish or large baking sheet with foil or parchment paper.
  2. Wash and trim 1 lb of green beans, then arrange them evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together ⅔ cup brown sugar, ¼ cup melted butter, ¼ cup soy sauce, and 2 tsp minced garlic until smooth.
  4. Pour the sauce over the green beans and toss to coat evenly. Season with ½ tsp salt and ½ tsp black pepper.
  5. Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the beans are tender and glossy.
  6. Spoon extra sauce from the pan over the beans before serving.

Notes

  • Make sure to trim the ends of the green beans for cleaner presentation.
  • This dish can be made gluten-free by using tamari instead of soy sauce.
