Description
This delicious moist yellow cake topped with a sweet maple glaze is perfect for any occasion!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box moist yellow cake mix
- ⅔ cup vegetable oil
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup sour cream
- ¾ cup packed brown sugar
- ½ cup chopped pecans
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 Tbsps milk
- 1 Tbsp pure maple syrup
- ¼ tsp maple extract (can substitute vanilla extract)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350℉. Spray a 13×9 inch baking pan with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.
- Add the cake mix, vegetable oil, eggs, and sour cream to a large bowl and beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes.
- Add the brown sugar, pecans, and ground cinnamon to a small bowl and mix to combine.
- Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle the brown sugar mixture evenly over the batter. Pour the remaining batter evenly over the pecan mixture and use a spatula to gently spread the cake batter over the filling.
- Place the cake in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove the pan from the oven and place on a cooling rack.
- In a small bowl, stir together the powdered sugar, milk, maple syrup, and maple extract. If your glaze is too stiff, add more milk.
- Use a fork to poke holes over the entire surface of the warm cake and carefully pour and spread the glaze over the cake. Let the cake cool completely before serving.
